Tell me about bullying at Hale. If you were in charge, what would you do about it?
There is all forms of bullying at Hale. One form that I constantly see is girls and boys, talking about eachother behind other people's backs. This is sad to see because, instead of coming up to that person and confronting them, they just talk trash about them. Another type of bullying I see at Hale is people picking on other kids. They make comments to that person, and that kid gets angry and starts to pick a fight. If I were in charge I would open up an afterschool classroom for kids who were bullied. This would help them see that they aren't alone. They would get to discuss their feelings, and talk with others. So when it's time to come home, they don't have to feel bad anymore. And as for those bullies, they would have to pick up trash around the campus, help clean teacher's rooms, and if they were really bad, that would be an automatic suspension.

My A+ life, my C life, and my F life Quickwrite
A+ life:
I would wake up beside my boyfriend and go to make breakfast in my gorgeous loft in New York. I would eat my breakfast checking news on my latest gadgets and would be out the door. I take a taxi to my job as a successful writer. I would take a taxi back to my loft where I would make dinner, and then go to bed. I would make a lot of money a year, so I wouldn't have to worry about rent or taxes.
C life:
I would wake up in my apartment in West Hills. I then would go make breakfast and go to my job as a secretary for a newspaper company. Then I would drive back to my apartment in my old Toyota Corolla, and eat my dinner while watching t.v and after go to bed.I would make minimum wage salary, and would just scrape by.
F life:
I would wake up on the cold streets of L.A. I would then walk to dig through the trash cans to find some food for my breakfast. I would eat the garbage I found, while walking to my usual street corner to beg for money. After holding an empty Starbucks cup I found for money, I would walk around and look through the trash cans again for my dinner. I would then bundle up my raggedy blankets and go to sleep.
Quickwrite Wearing a Raincoat
Is the song wearing a raincoat pro-drugs or anti-drugs? What part of the song makes you so sure?
I think that the song "Wearing a raincoat" is anti -drugs. I think this because the lyric "turning to drugs to help you sleep will only lead to sleep", is like saying taking drugs will only ruin your life, it won't do anything else for you. Drugs will ruin your life.

55 word story
"One Last Call " - Sara Shahnazi
A loud noise surrounds the city, and suddenly smoke and ash fill the air. A thick layer of questions concerns everyone. Fire trucks roar and people scream and run. Carla looks outside of her office building and sees a skyscraper turned to rubble. She then remembered her husband calling her earlier, and now sees him being carried away.

If you could have anything in the world... Quickwrite
What do you want more than anything else in the world? Who or what is keeping you from getting it?
Instead of wanting something like an ipod or a computer, what I want more than anything else in the world is for the environment to be saved. For example, if the environment was saved, the animals in the world wouldn't have to worry about going extinct, or losing their home. Not only cutting down trees kills the environment and hurts animals, things like pollution cause global warming, and hurt us too. I think we need to pay attention to the animals, and nature because before we had technology that was all we had. I guess the world is stopping me from getting this because of all the pollution and waste from everyone. If everyone did their part, we wouldn't have to be concerned about Polar Bears going extinct, or glaciers melting.

Quick Write there, their ,and they're
I made this assignment into a story!
The possums are on their way to the Skylight Treehouse Restaurant. Suddenly the baby possum wasn't there with them anymore! They're very frightened and worried about little Alfie. They search the neighborhood, and find him all the way beyond their reach on a rooftop. They try to climb a ladder, but they're too short to reach the roof. Suddnely the mommy possum spots Mayor Raccoon in their car! "Mayor Raccoon what are you doing there?", exclaimed daddy possum."There has been a report that Alfie the baby possum is on a roof!",shouted Mayor Raccoon. " But why are you in their car?", asked Vanessa the bat. " I was in a rush to get here, so I jumped in their car to get her quickly.", explained Mayor Raccoon. " There is too much arguing! Just please get my Alfie down!", proclaimed mommy possum. So Mayor Raccoon called the firebugs to get Alfie down from there. "They're coming soon", said mommy possum. "Hopefully they're experienced in getting down possums on roofs.", joked Mayor Raccoon. When the firebugs came, they got Alfie down and they're all relieved to have their fuzzy little baby back.

Favorite Fairytale Quickwrite 9/20/11
What is your favorite fairy tale? Why do you like it? What would you change about the story to make it better?
My favorite fairy tale is "The Three Little Pigs". I like it because there are three really cute short pigs, who are building houses. HOW COULD YOU NOT FIND THAT CUTE? It also teaches a valuable lesson. The lesson is to not be lazy, and that if you put that extra effort, you won't be let down. Or in this case, blown down. I also especially love the ending when the wolf crawls through the last pig's chimney and gets made into soup. Karma! It could be even better if the pigs had more personality and description to them. I love this story otherwise!

Quick Write 9/15/11
"Propose a new classroom rule. How would that affect: you, other students, and Mr.McCabe."
I propose that we play a version of musical chairs around our pods each day. For instance, when we come in to the classroom we would go by our pod's chairs and Mr.McCabe would play half of a one minute song. We would go around our desks until the music stopped and then we would sit in the chair closest to us.It would be fun for me, and other students would get to sit around in different seats. It wouldn't be around the room because that would be too hectic, but just around the pods so that Mr.McCabe wouldn't forget our names.

Quick Write 9/14/11
This quick write was about boys being smarter than girls or girls being smarter than boys.
"I think that girls are smarter. The reason is that girls think things through and are more self motivated. They are willing to come up with reasons for doing things, and think more maturely. It's not that boys aren't smart, it's just that their way of thinking and doing things aren't as motivated. It makes me feel proud to be a girl, but in the end I think it's fair to say that girls and boys are equal. There are many different men and women in the world that have accomplished many things, and have made breakthroughs, and all in all they have achieved it through hard work and patience."

Quick Write 9/12/11
This is the quick write from class today!
"Around me I see... a ton of kids, drawings on the white boards, cool Mr.McCabe, and so much more! There is a copied painting of Vincent Van Gogh's "A Starry Night", and a picture of something that looks like an eye chart, but actually says "this is not an eye chart". There is a clock that reads 12:08, and a computer with a screensaver of two black airplanes.I also see two yellow vests hanging on a podium where Mr.McCabe stands. There is also a bookshelf with books and a bowling pin on top.But out of all of those things, I see what is going to be a great year!
